Summary

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is required to perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy trucks, earth moving, and related construction equipment including road graders, articulated haul trucks, excavators, pipe layers, and dozers.. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.

Job Duties

  • Inspect, repair and adjust Caterpillar, Volvo, Komatsu and other heavy off-road equipment.
  • Perform incidental welding operations on equipment
  • Adhere to workplace and site safety policies, regulations and compliance
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
  • Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment
  • Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required
  • Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Accurate completion of work orders and time cards
  • Repair cooling, and lubrication systems
  • Install and align engines and machinery
  • Repair mechanical transmissions, drive-trains and final drives
  • Repair cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques

Requirements

  • Completion of off road Journeyman Program (third year)
  • Willing to work overtime.
  • Appropriate credentials and certifications
  • 3 years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
  • Possess a valid drivers license
  • Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

      Shop Foreman – Grande Prairie

      Department: Service Wage: 51.31/hr.

      Position Reports To: General Service Manager

      Position Profile:

      Shop Foreman is a key leadership position in the Service Department responsible for:

      • Responsible for profitable and effective management assigned shop segments.
      • Manage a team of technicians, apprentices in all aspects of productivity including quoting, diagnostics and invoicing
      • Liaise with Customer, Sales and internal teams as required on service issues and opportunities
      • Assist in all technical aspects including diagnostics and parts support where required
      • Manage warranty and rework to assigned targets
      • Manage technicians to a timely and productive service schedule (Labour Utilization)
      • Act as an ambassador for Health and Safety including corporate initiative such as CORE
      • Comply with all safety requirements such as tool box meetings, safety meetings and hazard analyses
      • Manage administrative requirements such as cost coding and time and materials allocations, job stories etc.
      • Perform required HR responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring disciplining and terminations.
      • Mentor and train mechanics and apprentices.
      • Ensure Job Stories are complete for every work order
      • Some hands on mechanical work may be required.

      Requirements and Qualifications

      • Journeyman Mechanic
      • Strong Computer skills- Excel, Outlook
      • Proficient with SIS, Prosis and other OEM software packages
      • Minimum 5 years Caterpillar experience
      • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
      • Experience with Volvo, Komatsu and Deere an asset.

                Branch Manager – Grande Prairie

                Duties and responsibilities:

                • Full P&L responsibilities in including expense and bottom-line management.
                • Assist General Manager in developing an accurate and realistic branch budget
                • Assist the General Manager in developing individual sales targets for branch and Sales Rep(s).
                • Direct and supervise sales effort at the branch.
